# What happens when my institution access ends?

> If StudyStash is provided to you by your university, college, or other organisation, the StudyStash administrator at your institution controls your access.

You can check your scheduled expiration date by contacting [support@studystash.com](mailto:support@studystash.com)

## Overview

  Accounts are deactivated and all data is removed in line with our [Terms of Service](https://studystash.com/privacy-policy).

You will receive email reminders up to **90 days** before your account is deactivated. These emails include instructions on how to export your data and outline the options available to you before deactivation occurs.

## Export your data

<Warning>
  **Caution:** once your account has been deactivated, it is not possible to export or download any additional content
</Warning>

You can download and export your data before your account is deactivated in **CSV** or **JSON** formats.

These files make it easy to back up your information or upload it to other apps and services for continued use. Make sure to export your data in time to avoid losing access. You can do this by contacting us on [support@studystash.com](mailto:support@studystash.com)

## Notifications

**Before your access ends:**

We'll let you know 90 days before your access is due to expire, so you can plan your next steps.

**In-app notification:**

You'll see a banner displayed in **StudyStash**, reminding you of your expiration date.
